My Story Leading to "BetterSelves"

Greetings and welcome to my latest blog "BetterSelves"

My name is Daryll Krivanos and this new blog of mine is an attempt to help others to radically transform their lives through an active and healthy lifestyle.

While the above mission statement may resemble the generic sound bite that you would read on any advertisement for a gym or personal trainer (or infomercial!), you'd have to know exactly how powerful I feel the role of a healthy and active lifestyle can be in transforming a life in amazing ways. I think the best way to do that is to give you a glimpse of my personal story.

In the year 2005 I found myself in terrible shape. I was almost 100lbs overweight, I'd just been diagnosed with heart disease and had to have two stents inserted in my heart for blocked arteries. I was constantly tired and was being forced to give up some medication I'd been taking to help me continue a successful career in a highly technical position in the IT sector.

I had no choice but to make BIG changes. I embarked on a quest to see how much of the damage I'd done to myself I could repair. To make a long story short, the transformation was much deeper than even the above pictures could testify to. The changes that ensued revealed not only a healthy and fit body, but identified aspects of my personality that even I never knew previously existed.

Physically, mentally and emotionally... I was a different man.

Much is said in religious & philosophical circles regarding the path to “Knowing Ones Self”. I have to say, I feel I've stumbled on something that helped me to realize the self that God had intended me to be. It is my sincere belief that this is a universal human trait, and that a fit and active body that is fueled by quality food will ALWAYS reveal a whole and unified person who can in turn be the best at whatever they do.

What does one do when one discovers a passion in life that not only encompasses a path to self realization but includes significant elements that resemble the fabled “Fountain of Youth”? The answer is simple, I'm strongly compelled to share what I've learned.

I can't say the transformation was easy. Everyone knows that anything worthwhile never is. But in light of the above claims that include adding quality years of life for anyone who puts for the effort, I believe it is a bargain the likes of which you'll never again match.
